Diabetes situation update

I had to go to the doctor today so they could check my blood sugar readings for the last few days. My doctor is on vacation, so I met with one of her partners. He was super nice and we commiserated for a while about dogs! He also has a half Newfie/half retriever, ironically enough, and agrees that they have the best dog personalities. He even wanted to see pictures of T&D, which I thought was funny. I can't wait to meet their 3 other partners (which will happen in another month or two at the hospital open house) and I hope they are just as nice. If I go into labor on a day my doctor isn't covering she won't be delivering the baby...so it's good to know the other doctors.

Anyway, he took a look at my numbers and said they looked really good. He did say that my morning numbers were a little high, which I expected. He recommended that I take the dogs for a walk at night after dinner, which will hopefully improve my morning numbers. I'm supposed to try that for a week (although I didn't walk tonight because my thighs are so sore from walking up and down the basement stairs 3,000 times yesterday!) and email him with the week's numbers next Monday. They'll take a look at the morning numbers and if they haven't improved, I'll have to do a touch of insulin at night before bed. I think I can handle that.

After we talked sugars, we listened to the baby's heartbeat which he said sounds great. He took a measurement and said "Yep, she's getting big in there." Not panicking yet, but he said it's good to get the sugars under control right away before she gets too big for a regular birth. I figured she was getting big because all of a sudden I can tell where she is. One second everything is fine, the next second "Holy crap, I have to pee RIGHT NOW!". I got woken up the other day with 4 or 5 swift kicks to the bladder. Good morning!! She also kicks all the time now. Its pretty crazy. I don't even notice anymore...I notice more when she's not kicking than anything else. She also loves to kick me a bunch of times, but when Jeff puts his hand on my stomach she immediately stops. Typical girl playing hard to get I guess.

My doctor is back in town next week and I'll see her on Thursday. Then we have an ultrasound in 2 weeks to check the kidneys and her overall size. We can't wait!

Wow, keep checking that. I had a couple of friends who had diabetes just during pregnancy. I am sure you have checked the internet but I found this just in case:
